MADHESH PEACE UNIVERSITY
On the pious and auspicious occasion of RAMANAVAMI ( March 28, 2007 , Wednesday ) Madhesh Foundation for Peace and Development decided to establish a Madhesh Peace University ( MPU ) and nominated a five member MPU Development Committee (MPUDC) - Dr. Bindeshwar Yadav , Prof. Dr. Vishwanath P. Agrawal , Prof. Dr. V. N. P. Gupta, Prof. Dr. R. D. Singh and Prof. Dr. Ram P. Chaudhary to do the ground work for the university.
It is envisaged that MPU will not conduct formal classes and grant degrees like other universities of the nation and will be developed as an institution for providing informal education, seminars and symposiums and training courses on peaceful coexistence, peace building, peaceful disobedience, yoga, Ayurveda, culture, rural sustainable development and agro-forestry. MPU is all set to launch classes for Peace Education from lower secondary to postgraduate level.
At present the office of the university will be based in Maharshi Valmiki Campus, Gaur of Rautahat district. Gaur has been chosen as a temporary site for MPU , because Gaur was the site of excessive outburst of Madheshi intolerance to Maoist atrocities and dictatorial attitude and disenchantment with white lies of political parties. It is hoped that establishment of Peace University will inspire the inhabitants of Rautahat and the whole nation to be peaceful.
